“If one were to tell me during my freshman year of college that studying abroad would make a crucial impact on my career, I would have laughed and snubbed it off,” Katie Noah said about her decision to study abroad. “If you ask me that same question today, I would laugh again, but only because it is a no-brainer that it has had a huge impact.”
Noah went to Bergamo, Italy during the summer of her sophomore year where she immersed herself in a world different than the one she was used to. She said it was always a goal of hers to visit Italy, and by taking the opportunity through TCoB Study Abroad, she got to live her dream.
“Physically seeing how other people live, experiencing business practices first-hand, and learning the history behind why we are where we are today is absolutely one of the most humbling and remarkable understandings of life,” Noah said.
After a great experience, Noah said that she decided she needed to see more of the world. She eagerly signed up and attended the winter intersession study abroad trip to Europe.
“It too was undoubtedly one of the best times of my life,” Noah said.
Noah graduated in 2014 with a degree in management and now works as an International Project Manager. As part of her work, she travels to many different countries.
“I was specifically hired because of my international experience while at MU. Studying abroad opened the door for me to unlimited opportunities for continuing education and global business.”
Noah explained the importance of study abroad and said it is one of the most important things we as a society need to strive to partake in.
“Studying abroad is a contributing factor to continuing educating and the foundation in heightening one’s career,” Noah said. “Money, of course, is many people’s reason for not studying abroad. However, I wholeheartedly would encourage any student to take the step. Put yourself out there and just do it. Look at it as an investment in your future, because you are worth it!”
